Who Wants To Be A Sheep?

sheep wolfWho wants to be a sheep of an entrepreneur? A white, fluffy, helpless sheep? Before you answer, consider the life of the sheep…

He has no sharp teeth, no long claws, no battle armour and no scary growl to scare off hungry wolves. He doesn’t run fast or jump high and he cannot camouflage his white wool against the green grass – He is an all together easy target for any predator.

Oh and if that wasn’t already bad enough…

The only thing a Continue reading “Who Wants To Be A Sheep?”

How To Change An Impossible Situation

Impossible climbBusiness is a test. Few realms of endeavour will have you encountering as many challenges, and in Zimbabwe – much more so. 2012 for example was a heck of a hard year for many. However there is a difference between what is hard and what is impossible.

‘Hard’ is a measure of difficulty. A measure of the effort it’s going to take to get through to the other side. Hard is a test – hard times show you what stuff you’re made of, what makes you tick, how much you want it. However, let’s be clear, If something is Continue reading “How To Change An Impossible Situation”

2012…Is it Really Over? Phew!

Not by might...
Not by might…

Just a little while longer and ‘The Year From Hell’ will be over! Well that’s at least how a couple of people I know would describe it. I was close to that too. I’ll admit, on ‘Wonderfulness-Of-Life-Ometer’, this has not been one of my best – not even close.

In 2012, I made more mistakes, failed in more ways than probably any year I’ve had since 1996 when I spent every waking moment playing video games and wondering why I didn’t make progress! Never was a year so full of heart breaks, secret tears, sleepless nights, unproductive days and reoccurring failures as was 2012 for me. A lot of really heart breaking experiences and all for one mega important lesson.

A lesson so important that it’s Continue reading “2012…Is it Really Over? Phew!”

Shhh, Just Don’t Mention Jesus!

Jesus, Jesus, GEEEZZUUUSSSS! You can make a lot of people uncomfortable with that name. It’s a funny thing. Not ‘God’ though. No one really minds you talking about God. ‘God’ is a generic term for your ‘Higher power’ whatever or whomever He may be. He’s the man upstairs, the creator, the big cheese, ‘the force’. Talk about God all you want, and 99% of the religious world and self-help movement, will agree with almost anything you say. Unless you’re around Continue reading “Shhh, Just Don’t Mention Jesus!”

So I Just Googled Myself

Did a Google Search for Max Soutter this morning! Actually it’s something i used to do all the time, just not recently. I was surprised at what i found…although i shouldn’t have been i suppose.

over one hundred thousand results, the front page looks like this a couple of links to my social media accounts (have you circled me on G+?), my main blog (this one), a talk i did for TEDx on YouTube, an old interview and so on – but all business related…actually you’d have to through several pages before you found non-business related results for my name – which is weird i thought..

I mean business is only a part of my life, and not even the most important either…yet it is by far what i am most known for. Seems wrong. What about Jesus and the Gospel of grace i love so much, what about my awesome wife and ridiculously cute kids? What about death by chocolate (one of histories greatest inventions)?

I’ve always said, “You can tell whats most important to a man by how he spends his time and his money”…now i’m wondering if i should ad…”and by the top and most common results on his google search”…

What do you think?

Merry Christmas Everyone!

The heading sums it up…Merry Christmas.

I’m already having a great day – an urgent business meeting, a (tiny) family crisis, but a great day nonetheless.

Still, far be it from me to forget my readers, clients and friends on such a special day.

Thank you for all your support throughout the year, you guys are awesome! Remember, it’s not about what you get, it’s about what you give.

And for every fellow Christian out there, please remember Santa isn’t the real reason for the season. Be sure to take some family and personal time to thank Jesus for coming.
