Ever asked yourself how dictators like Hitler are able to do what they do, sometimes gathering millions supporters and often even the support of  respected and important people?

The answer is in the skillful use of the propaganda machine.

Hitler understood the power of marketing more than most business owners ever will. Many dictators do. They understand how the skillful use of words can stir up emotion, change perspectives and create movements.

They understand that simple and effective words (not gibberish) create emotion that is more powerful than logic or reason, that a terrible cause with a good story is often more powerful than a good cause with a bad or no story. They understand that a powerful brand is like Gold (Osama Bin Laden knows this too) and they make incredible sacrifices to create one.

A dictator knows how to position himself and his ‘revolution’ to get you to believe that either he is right or that you cannot stop him.

If only more good men knew as much. Of course the reason Hitler failed was because Churchill also knew these truths and used them.
